Flash!  Who was Troy's character based on in real life?

Also, some of the sharper music fans out there have probably noticed the Troy McClure reference on the new Yo La Tengo album.  On the new CD entitled And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out, there is a song called "Let's Save Tony Orlando's House."  That reference is taken from this Troy quote.  I think it's great that one of my favorite bands of all time is also such a huge fan of the Simpsons-- bassist James McNew has even compared himself to the Comic Book Guy!  If you like Yo La Tengo, you'll probably also dig the band Seam.

Remarkably, this site just keeps on getting great new stuff!  I'm proud to announce that the Troy McClure Pretty-Much-Everything Site now boasts TWO sound files that you can no longer hear in syndication, sweet_liquor.wav (a must have!) and fishslep.wav (from the episode where Troy marries Selma).  We've also got the classic first song from the "Planet of the Apes" musical in sparkling MP3 format!  Go to the sounds page for all the sweet new sound files!
